soulmate tattoo meme

Maybe you're completely blindsided, or maybe a little part of you knew all along. Maybe they're a complete stranger, maybe they're your best friend or worst enemy, but that doesn't matter anymore. What does matter is that you saw a very familiar mark somewhere on their person, the same mark that you were born with, and you know that can only mean one thing.

How to Play:

This is a soulmate tattoo meme, which means that when two people share a mark, they're meant to be together. Always.
Post with your character | fandom | and any preferences.
Either leave a blank comment or clarify which prompts you prefer or would rather avoid.

PROMPTS.

1. BEST FRIENDS: You've been best friends for a long time, maybe you're entire life, but this is the first time you've seen their mark, whether it be because you walked in on them changing, decided to take a dip in the pool, or you just haven't been paying attention until now.
2. WORST ENEMIES: No, not them. Anyone but them. You're going to do everything in your power to deny that this is even happening at all.
3. REJECTION: Soulmate marks are stupid, it's way too unrealistic to assume that you'll find one other person with the same tattoo when the human population is in the literal billions. So when you do find them, it would make you a bit of a hypocrite to really do anything about it, right? Right. Hopefully they feel the same way.
4. STRANGER: You're just walking to work or hanging out in your favorite coffee shop when you see a familiar mark on a very unfamiliar person. What do you do? Do you chase them down? Be sure not to embarrass yourself! First impressions are everything.
5. PLATONIC: Just because the word 'soulmate' has romantic suggestion to it doesn't mean it has to be romantic. Maybe the person you share your mark with loves you in a different way.
6. UNOBTAINABLE: You're just minding your business, watching the Oscars or MTV or a documentary when you see your mark on the body of a celebrity. Most awkward fan mail ever.
7. WILDCARD: None of the prompts catching your eye? Make your own!

Actually, the reason I came here was because I have a matching birthmark. I... I can't show it to you... [She glances back again to the group, focusing on Olive. She knows what Olive would say. She'd say to just do it. Show him the mark, it's not like she's sleeping with him. But then again, Olive would also say just to sleep with him anyway. She wishes life was just that easy and you could just pick who you want, but that's not how it works.] but I wanted to come here and tell you. [When she says that she has a mark to match his, his immediate reflexive reaction is to ask to see it, but she thwarts it before he can even get it out and he looks a little deflated at that.]

Well, where it is? Is it...? [He makes a vague gesture toward his own chest and lifts an eyebrow. If it's on her boob, he can totally understand her not wanting to show him in the middle of the park.]</small> Well, yeah I'm the first person. There's only supposed to be one other person in the whole world with the same mark. Least...that's what my dad used to say, anyway, when he was alive. [Andy pauses for a second before continuing.] You wanna go get a cup of coffee or something and talk?

[She waves goodbye to the small group of girls that she was hanging out with as she followed Andy to the car. She's almost certain that he won't try anything on her, but worst case scenario, she can always just call Russo to help her bury his body if he does. Something tells her he's not a hunter or druid... But that's just her worrying, he seems nice.

She's feeling so giddy right now. It's as if she's just a regular girl meeting a regular guy the regular way. No rules. No pressure. Just them.]

So... are you seeing anyone? [She asks casually as they walk. Subtlety was never exactly a strong suit of hers. She just can't think of a proper way to keep conversation rolling... and also find out if he's single.]

[ Andy gives a brief glance in the direction Esmeralda waves and then he went on leading her across the park toward his car. ]

Me? No, not anymore.

[ He's still smarting a little, if he's honest, from the breakup with Ann, but if she doesn't ask more questions, then Andy is fine as long as he doesn't have to talk about it in detail. He still misses Ann, even if he's finally come to the conclusion that they just weren't meant to be. ]

No... not really. My family arranged for a marriage for me to Eduardo Guerra, we're going to be engaged soon. We aren't together, though. I think he's still seeing someone... [She doesn't seem bothered by the information she shared, just states it matter-of-factly. She shrugs as she continues.]

It's complicated and political, I don't really understand it but everyone has a role to play, right? [She smiles up at him as if she was just rambling about a crappy job she works at and not her entire future. When they arrive at the car she opens the passenger side door and lets herself in]

It could be worse. [She shrugs again] He's nice enough and my family trusts him with our estate. Don't feel badly for me, I'm going to have a really easy life. The only real work I'll ever have to do is raise kids and entertain houseguests.

[She glances up again at him. She doesn't want him to feel anything negative about this. His opinion certainly won't change anything, but for some reason she wants his approval in this. Maybe it's because he's made her laugh more in the past few minutes than Eddy ever did in the entire 19 years that she knew him. Maybe it was the superstition over the birthmark, the idea that he could be her soulmate. She'd hoped to grow to love Eddy, but if she's meant to be with Andy... well, that would complicate things quite a bit.]

[ It takes a lot to get Andy worked up, so his reaction is outwardly minimal, but he can't help thinking it really sucks that the one person he's supposed to spend his life with is already getting married to someone else. ]

I wouldn't want that life, that sounds boring as hell.

[ He stops in front of his car and looks over at her. ]

Don't you want to love your life? I mean, really love it? I love mine. When I get married, I'm gonna marry somebody who likes the same dumb stuff I do. My wife and I are gonna have fights with marshmallow cannons and water balloons and the only time we ever get mad at each other is when we're pretending to play FBI Agent (that's me) and Russian spy (that'll be her) and it won't even be real mad, it'll be pretend.

[ Andy grins at the idea. ]

And when we have parties, they'll be awesome. They'll be Halloween parties, because that's the only cool time to have a party, and we'll go all out and make it the coolest party anyone invited has ever been to. And we won't do those dopey matching couples costumes because she wants to be Elvira and I want to be The Miz.

And someday when we have kids, they'll have water balloon fights with us.

I want someone to dine and dash with, and then go back and apologize and pay later because we're not jerks, we just like the rush. And I want someone who doesn't care if I track mud through the house because I don't care that she leaves wet towels on the floor after her shower.

The sex will be awesome because we'll never do it the same way twice and we make the best team ever and life is awesome and fun, because that's the only thing that makes life worth living.

[She's quiet during his rant. It's true, she does want those things. Who wouldn't? To be in love with the person you're with and for every moment to be an adventure. She used to dream that one day she and Eddy would end up like that, but he's cold and flat, so she told herself she liked that instead. She doesn't want to want those things anymore. This freedom that she'll never experience aside from in his words and in her imagination. The weight of reality crushes her, though, at the end of his speech.

She nods. Yes, she wants that. She wants that more than anything, but she's come to terms with her life. Her family needs this to be a success. She's their only child. It's easier to deny wanting what you want when you know you can't get it, but this is right here in front of her. She wants this life. The rush of not knowing where they'll end up and everything being a game. She wants it more than she can say. The conflict shows on her face as she tries to force the ideas back out of her head.]

...well then...make it happen. It's your life. It's nobody else's. And it doesn't have to be with me or that stuffed shirt loser who sounds like the ultimate snoozefest if all he wants is to have dinner parties and make a million babies — not that babies aren't awesome, because babies are awesome, but you know what I mean, right? — it doesn't have to be with anyone, if that's what you want, but just take it. You know? You can...and you should. That's what life's all about. ...you only get to have one, so you have to make it great.
