Thank you so much for your continuing translation work. This presents a really interesting read.
What I'm not clear of is where the Compendium falls in the timeline of game development- does it date from before or after MHX? If before, then MHX has to be presumed to be showing the current Capcom thinking about the plot- if after, we have to figure that they're running with the last public info from MHX. Either way, MHX reboots the original continuity, thus overwriting whatever Light might have originally thought or said. (arghhh)
It's definitely 'worry' and not 'conscience' that Light is speaking of here?
I also don't follow this logic: In the worst case, if a robot were to harm humans deliberately, humankind would tremble with fear the like of which was unknown even in the days of the "Dr. Wily" incidents...
So robots were judged to be innocent of malevolence during the Wily era because they were under the control of a bad human and therefore not responsible for their actions- they were just following orders?
But X, with no one to be 'responsible' for him, could make this decision himself and it would be scarier somehow? I think that's what is being implied here, but I'm not sure...
I'm not sure that it's any better or worse for a robot to decide to hurt humans, or a human to decide to use a robot to hurt other humans... unless we're talking about human pride and hubris here.
