Who: Aiden Conley and Jay Cooper When: Saturday June 4th, 5:30pm Where: Mancakes What: Jay needs a cake. A very specific cake. Ratings/Progress: N/A/In progress
Jay headed to work early. It was warm out and he was wearing a pair of jeans and a button down, his hair pushed back nicely and a smart pair of shoes. He looked good. He always wanted to look good when working usually, but band nights... the tips were greater and he didn't have to flirt as much for them. People were in a good mood when a band was playing which made it easier to make a bit more money for him to send home to his parents. He was happy that he'd managed to make up some of the money in tips over the long weekend after the Friday Night deadness that he'd experienced. His family he knew was running short this month as well on their own bills, let alone Philip's hospital bills so it was going to be a lean month all around. Jay would be sending them a little extra out of his teaching pay cheque, which wasn't much as it were.
He needed to rent out his second bedroom fast, but he just hadn't gotten to cleaning it out completely yet. There was still a daybed that pulled out in to a full size bed and a desk int here he had to get rid of. He'd just been so busy he hadn't gotten the chance. Perhaps next weekend he'd get around to doing it and rent the room for the middle of the month.
Now however, he decided to use the last of his teacher's budget to order the kids at school a little treat. His class this year had been really good. At least, most of the time. He wanted to reward that hard work, and give them a nice send off out of kindergarten by getting some snacks and they'd be watching a movie while having them. It wasn't a huge thing, but it was enough when you were 5 years old. A cake was just in order. He knew Mancakes would probably be the best place to go, so stopping by before his shift he entered the bakery, which looked like it had almost been cleaned out for the day. He didn't need his cake for a while, but from the looks of how things seemed to be gone, they were obviously a popular place to come.
Walking in he stuffed his hands in his pockets and waited for the woman in front of him to finish. She had ordered up the last of some sort of cookies and a pie or two, and some bread. It all looked pretty tasty and Jay's stomach rumbled a little. Probably loud enough that it might have been heard and he smiled to himself as the older lady paid and left. When Jay stepped up to the counter, he pulled a piece of paper out of his pocket. "Hi, uh, I'm not sure if I need to speak to Oliver himself or if I can just make a custom cake order?" He asked not sure if he could go to just anybody and do that. This was...going to be quite the mouthful for who ever had to figure out how this would work.
The girl behind the counter said she'd be right back and so Jay waited, his hands back in his pockets looking down in to the display case thinking he should grab something for himself before he had to start work.
