Charles opened his mouth to say reply that he loved her more than he loved the hospital, but refrained from spouting off the L word too soon. He'd been falling in love with her for a while now, and it was too soon, he knew that, but part of him wanted her to know as well. It seemed ridiculous of course, that he'd feel this way so quickly but wasn't that romance? Wasn't that love? It wasn't supposed to be laid out neatly, it was supposed to be fun and exciting and feel crazy and messy.
"I'd pick you over the hospital any day. No need to get the law involved" He grinned a bit at her and he gave her a wink. "It's your day today what do you want to do?" He asked her, fully ready to do whatever she wanted. He was happy to make her happy for today. He knew that he'd been working too much and he owed her a special day.
Charles knew that while, they were married things hadn't really changed between them and he was okay with that, really. He liked the idea of being married. He really did. A few of his friends at work had started to razz him about not settling down, and really he had all the time in the world. The ones that had been teasing him had been humans. They didn't know how it was for immortals. But saying that he had a wife...it hadn't gotten old yet. "I know you're still upset about it." He said stroking her hair. "Hopefully I can make it better."
