Eva's cautious look turned outright hopeful when he said Mr. Kindle wanted to get back with Sam. It was all she could to school her expression and not smile (though her eyes grew to anime-level of hopeful), or whip out her phone and call Sam right there. Mr. Kindle did love Sam, and she knew Sam loved him. There was no reason for her and Del not to intervene because, clearly, they were being foolish adults. It happened sometimes.
The hopeful look was tempered somewhat as Alfie reached for a cigarette. She watched him with a silent frown for a moment before observing quietly, "It makes me worry when I see you smoking, Alfie. You're not bulletproof."
But then Alfie brought up a good point. She didn't know why they'd broken up, and since Del hadn't said, she expected her friend didn't, either. They should probably find that out. What if it was something irreconcilable like, one of them wanting kids and the other not? Maybe one of them had been unfaithful. None of those things seemed right (like, at all), but she was pretty sure there were other things that could qualify as irreconcilable, but she didn't know what those were.
Eva silently considered these things for a few moments. Her pensive expression cleared and she nodded. "Ok," she said, as if everything was settled. Because it kind of was. First she had to talk to Sam and find out why things had ended. Then she and Del could bring them back together.
