Poppy knew all about Mercy’s job, and how emotionally draining it could be. She honestly had no idea how her friend could deal with the strain without going a little mad. It was part of the reason why she had an open door policy when it came to Mercy, making it clear the the other brunette could show up at her door whenever she needed to, and she would be welcome. Even if she had no idea exactly what Mercy was going through, she would do her best to listen.
Offering bagels and tea to Mercy seemed like second nature since it was a well known fact that having food was integral to unwinding. She wasn’t sure what type of conversation they would be having but that didn’t matter to Poppy when it came down to it.
Still in her sweats and a t-shirt since she saw no reason to change, she started the tea once she got Mercy’s text. She didn’t know what kind of meeting her friend would be coming from, so it didn’t occur to her that she might want to set out an extra pair of comfy clothes for her. Then again, there were quite a few things she didn’t really consider until she saw a need for it.
The only real preparation she had done for the visit was to clean up a little bit.
She also set out a nice spread of various flavors of bagels and cream cheeses, since she wanted to give Mercy some choices. It would be nice to get outside feedback on them, so she would know whether or not adding them to the menu would be worthwhile. She smiled when she heard the knock, bouncing over to the door and opening it with a little bow. “Come in, come in. Don’t you look fancy.”
