"I could get you water, if you want." Poseidon offered. He laughed at her joke. The man found humour in a lot of bad jokes. "You should see me talk to fish and swim underwater." He winked at her. It was funnier now that he was no longer under the curse from Kronos. A lot of his powers had always been there, in the background of his life, just never fully developed or experienced.
Sitting down, Poseidon looked even more like a giant as his form engulfed the normal sized folding chair. "Thanks. As much as the gala is to raise funds for research, I wanted to have it also give back to the community. Back in Hawaii everyone would come together and take care of each other and the land that big corporations tried to take hold of, so this was my chance to bring a piece of that large family feel to a surprisingly lonely big city." He shrugged.
The female assistant he had brought with him brought them both a box of water- the more eco-friendly bottling of water than plastic bottles that ended up in the ocean- from the stash Poseidon had brought as a donation to the shelter.
"Rhi, then. Though Rhiannon is a very beautiful name. I believe it means Queen, right?" Unlike his brother, her husband, Poseidon was not about to push their godliness down an unawakened person's throat. Sure, he awoke after two tries of this technique and several awoke in the meeting that never happened, but he could be subtle- like a river slowly chipping away at a rock.
