If Alastair actually bothered to take credit for anything having to do with Summer's upbringing, it would be the fact that she was a good student. Alastair himself was one, and he had tried to instill within her that knowledge and study would carry her further than parties and slacking off. So, seeing her hard at work on her studies made him feel proud.
He arrived in the doorway and offered her a smile before moving to sit down next to her. He realized he was nervous to tell her, not because of her reaction, but telling anyone would make it real. He hadn't told Alec yet, but that would come after he talked to Summer. His reaction likely wouldn't be as favorable as Summer's.
