Who Cassian Heller & Nina Garrett Where City Center What A chance meeting When 8/11, early morning Rating TBD/Incomplete
There was one thing the poor had going for them over the rich: they weren't gullible idiots. Well, idiots maybe, but certainly not gullible. The downtrodden always managed to be suspicious of anyone and anything offering them service or kindness. That was why selling drugs was a game for the rich. Fools and their money were so easily parted, and those who had an abundance of the latter were even quicker to part. That was why Cassian was standing in the city center at 7 o'clock in the morning. It wasn't like it was cold and it wasn't like Cassian was a late riser, but the way the rich insisted on being fashionably late really grated on his nerves. If he were a lesser man, he would make sure the rich asshole knew exactly how inconvenienced he felt. Luckily for him, Cassian was the merciful sort.
So, there he was, leaning against a building and just waiting. He pulled a pocketwatch out of his coat and flipped it open, checking the time. Fifteen minutes. This guy was pushing it, but the deal was solid and he wasn't going to mess up a lucrative opportunity because of something like his temper.
He had dressed the part, so the enforcers had left him entirely alone. Some even tipped their hats in greeting as if he were one of the upper crust. He had pulled out all the stops on the look as well. Black suit, waistcoat, tie, and shoes with a white button down shirt that had been pressed neatly before he put it on. To anyone passing by, he looked like the son of some mogul waiting for his assistant to come back from the shopping district.
Snapping the pocketwatch closed, he glanced up to see the man finally arrive. It wasn't by chance. Cassian had sensed him. He was out of his element, so every sense in him was on high alert. Luckily, the deal went quickly, done by sleight of hand, exchanging the goods while no enforcers could see them. There was another set of eyes on them, however. Not enforcers, but the elite man hadn't noticed. He left with his stash in his pocket and Cassian watch him go before finally turning his head to look directly at the young woman who had seen the entire exchange.
