Bucky didn't waste any time after he'd talked to Shuri. He grabbed his jacket and weapons from his room, then found Wanda and explained the situation. It bothered Bucky a lot that Shuri had also been grabbed by whatever it was that brought him there, and surprised had indeed been a very mild way to put how Bucky felt at receiving her message. It did not matter how smart Shuri was, and she was the smartest person Bucky knew; she was in an unfamiliar place, nothing like Wakanda, and she was technically still a kid. No way was he was going to leave her out there to fend for herself. Thankfully, Wanda understood and agreed to help him. They made it around the mountain and travelled together due east from the mountain lodge, Bucky running and Wanda gliding beside him, until they reached the marshes. They could have used the boardwalk south west of them, but Bucky didn't want to waste too much time. There had to be enough daylight for Bucky to get there, then get Shuri back to the mountain lodge. Bucky didn't stop running when they reached the marshes, but increased his speed instead. The combo of his own jump and Wanda's assistance from her powers propelled him right over the marshes; he hit the dry land and rolled to his feet easily. Bucky paused for a minute and looked at Wanda across the marsh, giving her a wave to let her know that he was all right, then continued running east. He didn't know how big the island was, but it didn't matter; he'd be able to run for a hell of a long time before he would even start to get tired. It didn't take long for Bucky to hear the familiar sound of rushing water, and that meant a river. He pushed his way through the foliage, a lot thicker than it had been for most of his trip, and ended up slowing down to shove his way through a particularly troublesome part of it. After a few moments, Bucky got the last of it out of his way. As he moved forward, however, the sound under his boots changed suddenly and he stepped onto a brick road that was - yes, you guessed it - yellow. What the hell was up with this goddamn island? He saw Shuri a moment later, a blanket around her shoulders and a cell phone clutched tightly in her hand. Relieved to see her at all, let alone unharmed, Bucky walked over to her. "Hey, princess," he remarked, not out of breath yet despite how he had just run quite a ways to get to her. "Sorry it took a while. This island's goddamn big." Bucky was pretty sure that he had barely crossed a small section of it too. Guess that was more information to get. |
