Billy nodded as he listened to Bonnie talk. Seemed like she had gone through something kind of similar to what he had gone through. It must have been rough, such a young girl losing her grandmother. Especially if she felt like it must have been her fault, though he couldn't imagine what a girl could do to kill her grandmother. He kind of wanted to ask, but he had better manners than that. If she wanted to volunteer the information, then fine. But if not, he didn't want to push it.
"I'm sorry about your grandmother, too." He took another drink, then finally made himself take another bite of his food. Alcohol on an empty stomach was bad. His college days had at least taught him that.
"She, Penny I mean, was my arch enemy's girlfriend," he said a little bitterly, feeling compelled to explain his relationship, though heaven knew why. "I shouldn't care, right?" He chuckled and shook his head. But of course he cared.
