"Yeah, all right," he was hungry and he hoped that Quinn planned to feed him here at this fancy schmancy place he couldn't really afford, but sadly that was not the case. If he had to listen to her try to explain herself again he should at least get a burger and a coke out of the deal. Maybe even dessert. Now he was supposed to walk and listen and act all sensitive when he was pretty sure there was nothing she could possibly say to make it all okay. There were just so many lies. So much heartache. She'd slept with his best friend and then tried to make him believe the baby she was carrying was his.
Her logic had seemed sound, he couldn't imagine her having gotten pregnant any other way, but she had. Lie after lie, after lie. Making him feel like some dead beat dad for not being able to afford their bills. Making him love a daughter that would never be his. Too many tears shed.
He didn't know if he wanted an apology, it seemed so hollow. He could tell she was small. Maybe she wasn't pregnant yet, he didn't want to bring it up. "So... how do you like working there?"
