Dawn was a little nervous about seeing Pike again, but she was excited, too. To be honest, he was the first boyfriend of Buffy's that she'd ever liked. They had first met one day when she'd gone outside to play and avoid her parents' arguments, and found him sitting outside on a motorcycle, waiting for her sister. She had been an extremely curious kid and had almost immediately bombarded him with questions, but he hadn't seemed to mind. Instead, he'd answered them all and then bought her an ice cream cone, instantly becoming Dawn's favorite older guy in the world, at the time.
While she hadn't ever talked to him too much, she had looked forward to whenever he came over to see Buffy, because he'd always taken time to talk to her and find out how she was doing. Then, suddenly, he was gone, and she'd been upset, even angry. But the pain had been quickly followed by her parents splitting and she, Buffy, and their mom moving to Sunnydale, and she had no idea what had happened to him.
That had been six years ago. They'd moved to Sunnydale just after her tenth birthday. In the time since then, she had thought of him occasionally, but she never knew how to begin searching for him. To find out that he was one of the two people here that she knew was pretty freaky, but also something she liked. After reluctantly going to her assigned cabin and setting up the meeting with Pike, she had changed clothes, finding a few normal items in a closet that were her size and taste-and that weren't uniforms. She tried not to think about the shirts that had 'Ridgeway Resort' on them.
A few minutes later, she heard Claire leave her room, and she headed downstairs herself just after, just in time to hear the cabin door shut. Dawn headed into the living room to wait for Pike to show up. It took another ten minutes or so, before she heard three knocks at the door. Taking a deep breath, the teen stood and headed for the door, pulling it open.
Before she could stop herself, she threw herself into his arms for a hug-not even yet noticing the scar, or anything else-and wrapping her own around him tightly.
