Teddy let the cabin door swing shut behind him. He'd made sure he was out of the cabin early that morning, walking around the resort to occupy his time before work. Normally he enjoyed being at the movie theatre, but since Thursday, not even work had been able to make him feel his usual lighthearted self. He'd played each movie like clockwork, always on time, and stared blankly through the little window at the screen, taking notice of nothing.
But it was no good, just trying to ignore the situation. He needed to talk to her some time, and he couldn't stand putting it off any longer. Besides, he was getting fed up of being out of the cabin all the time. It was his cabin too, after all.
Sighing, he pulled his jacket off, letting it hang over the end of the stairs as he began making his way up. As far as he could tell, Vic hadn't been out of her room. He'd heard her moving about in there the night before, and from the un-lived in look of the living room, she hadn't ventured down there. His juice carton from that morning was still sitting on the coffee table and he knew she wouldn't have been able to resist cleaning it away if she'd been down.
Slowly he approached her door. He knocked quietly but didn't bother waiting for a reply. Whatever he walked in on couldn't be worse than what had been plaguing his mind for the last five days. Gritting his teeth, his jaw set, he stood in the doorway, looking in.
