The confused look remained on Bella's face as Edward led her towards the dining room. He was being so cryptic and secretive. "Edward?" she asked uncertainly, trying to peer around him into the dining room. It looked dark in there. She had no idea what he was doing.
When he stepped aside, she gasped as she registered the table with it's adornments. He had gone to so much trouble just for her. Raising one hand to cover her mouth, she looked at the scene, unable to speak. Slowly, she looked up at him.
"Oh, Edward... you didn't have to do this!" He didn't even eat, and yet the food on the table smelt so good. She knew he could cook - he'd helped her out many times after all - but he'd never gone completely out of his way to cook for her like this before.
Feeling his arm around her waist, she leaned into his body wrapping her arms tight around him, the little silver bracelet tinkling on her wrist.
She walked, a little shakily, as he led her to the side of the table with food on it, a little smile playing on her face. "I feel really stupid now," she said, motioning at her ragged old jeans and easy shirt. He'd clearly made so much of an effort. She could have at least dressed up. Being as graceful as possible, she sat down in the chair he pulled out for her.
