Fortunately for both involved, Cordelia hadn't been too far from her cabin when she'd noticed Angel's message. She had paused, just long enough to exchange a few words with him, then had promptly made her way back to her cabin. She had been on her way back anyway, which just made it easier when Angel admitted he was there as well. Personally, the Seer preferred to meet there rather than somewhere a bit more public. Not that she was embarrassed or anything, but at least in or near the cabins she felt a little less like she was being watched by that creepy manager.
As she walked, she tried telling herself not to get too excited. Yes she was extremely relieved that Angel was there and could hardly wait to see him, but she also knew that things might be a little... intense to start with. They were clearly from two very different points in time and a lot of things had happened in those few short years. Things that he was going to want to know about. Things she honestly wasn't sure just how to explain.
First there was, of course, her death. While she'd given him the shortened version already, she highly doubted he was going to leave it at that. Then there was the fact that he was probably going to want to know what actually happened to her in Pylea. Not to mention the fact that she wasn't completely human anymore and, while the Angel from her timeline had never commented on that fact, now she wasn't so sure he wouldn't be able to smell the demon part of her. And boy wasn't that going to be fun to explain.
With a soft sigh and a shake of her head, the brunette told herself to think positive. Yes, things were going to be a little awkward, but he was still Angel. He was her Champion, her best friend, and the man... well, vampire, that she loved. She knew now that the chances of them ever being together were slim to none. If one of them wasn't ascending to higher plane of existence then one was getting dumped into the ocean, or one of them was pregnant with an evil higher power or one of them decided to take over Evil, Inc. or something. The point was, she had pretty much accepted during that time in her coma that she and Angel, while undoubtedly in love with one another in their own way, would likely never be. Which sucked, but she could accept it if she absolutely had to.
Or not, came the final thought to cross her mind as Angel finally came into view. Pausing on the path, Cordelia felt her stomach give a sharp jolt at the sight of him. Giving herself a mental kick, she forced herself to keep moving closer. A smile grew upon her face as she did so and finally, practically beaming, she managed to find her voice.
"You know," she drawled, "one of these days I'm actually going to convince you to stop with the Johnny Cash vibe. It's not like it would actually kill you to add some color to your wardrobe." It was a typical complaint of hers, made in a far more endearing fashion than anything else. It was familiar. It was normal. It was nice.
"So," she tacked on as she came to a stop and spread her arms out a bit. The grin was still firmly in place. "Did you miss me?"
