The sunlight had been inches within grasp…the exposure that would cause chaos for decades. Everything had been planned out, perfect day…perfect timing. If Bella was no longer alive, there was no point in his existence. He would say there was no reason in living or being alive, but truth being told he really wasn’t either of those things. No, in this instance Rosalie was right. He was stuck, unable to move forward with no possibilities. With the love of his life gone, Edward wanted death. Pure, unaltered death. The sun lay at its peak in the sky as Edward took another step forward, his legs hitting the warmth he was prohibited from feeling. In a moment’s anticipation, he leaned forward, but instead of the sun’s rays…he all of a sudden felt cold.
He was lying in an air conditioned room, no one around and nothing inside except a few chairs and a letter. Is this what happened after death? Had the Volturi really reached him that fast? It honestly wouldn’t have surprised him…they were after all vampires as well. Their speed was unlike any other’s. This was it then….this was where he would spend eternity. It wasn’t exactly like he had planned or hoped, but it was better than the flames he had believed to be going to after death. Of course, at the same time…he really wasn’t sure where he was yet, so that statement might prove to be false.
A long sigh escaped his lips. The muscles in his body tensed as he once more thought of Bella. Even in death he could not escape her. A frustrated growl filled the air as he snatched up the note and began to read. A resort huh? Staff? Had he really been sentenced to eternity in a resort? His eyes lifted up to the ceiling and he just shook his head, half laughing at the situation and whatever God seemed to be looking down on him. It was almost a cynical laugh…a dangerous one. Couldn’t he just be dead and inexistent? Even in this world, his mind couldn’t escape the thought of Bella. But, at least she wasn’t a vampire and she had a chance at a normal death. And with her innocence, he knew she would be somewhere safe and peaceful. Not confined to a damn resort working as an entertainer.
Anger ran hot through his veins as he stood up, throwing the letter down. He paced back and forth for a couple of moments, his golden eyes looking around the room. He pushed the doors open and followed the path like the letter had explained to his cabin. Once arriving, he saw three other beds, one of which looked occupied. He walked over to the other person’s bed and looked around for any indication on whom they were. Then he suddenly froze, realizing that there was a slight hunger in his stomach. Oh no… Even here he still had to feed. Of course, he was set for right now…but the anger was quickly draining his energy. He needed to find a source of food. He reached into a trunk that had been placed at the bottom of his bed and pulled out a pair of dark-washed jeans and a fitted grey t-shirt. Over top he threw on a darker gray jacket, but left it unbuttoned.
Grabbing his shades, he hung them from the rim of his shirt and opened the door. Might as well make the best of it while he was here, right? A sinister smirk fell on his lips as he opened the door to the outside world. The sun had peeked out from behind the clouds. He didn’t care though. He was already dead right? What harm could showing his true self do? Pulling the sunglasses loose, he put them on and began walking towards the main area of the resort. The warmth felt amazing against his skin and he inhaled lightly. Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all. His pale skin shimmered in the sunlight as he made haste towards what appeared to be the lobby of the hotel.
