Bella looked up at Jake, only his height separating their faces. What the hell was wrong with her?! She had wanted him to say that, hadn't she? Why then was she now inwardly cringing at his words. Why did this all have to be so hard! She did love him, and it couldn't just be as friends or he wouldn't make her feel like this, but as soon as the slightest chance of anything happening occurred, she got the distinct urge to run.
Licking her lips, she looked up at him, her brow crinkled slightly. "Jake, I..." Her eyes lingered on his lips for a moment. They looked so... kissable.
No, Bella! she scolded herself. She was only being like this because she missed Edward. And Jake was so lovely and beautiful, and holding her so close. And he was so warm...
Taking a deep breath, she pulled away from him slightly, looking down at her feel. "I guess I should let you get on," she said quietly, chewing on her lip. Surely it was best to just remove herself from the situation. She most certainly wasn't thinking rationally right now. Tear stains still glistened down her cheeks and she was feeling possibly more insecure than she ever had before. Now was not a good time to be getting up close and personal with Jacob, especially now he was with Leah. She just didn't trust herself around him at the moment.
