Bella nibbled her lip as she studied the tree. She knew nothing about tree climbing but she didn't much like the idea of crawling along the branch, even though it wasn't far off the ground. And she wanted to climb, not be hoisted. As long as he stayed behind her, she couldn't fall right?
"Middle, I think," she said hesitantly, looking over at him. "You'll follow me up?" She trusted him to catch her. She was much stronger than her after all. He wouldn't let her hurt herself too badly. Not that she was actually intending to hurt herself, it was just a possibility.
Taking a deep breath, she approached the tree, putting her hands out to touch the bark. She glanced back at Jake. "When you give me a boost... where do I put my feet... and hands?" This reminded her of when she needed lessons on how to ride a motorbike. By the time Edward's voice had stopped coming to her when she rode the bike, and subsequently she lost interest, she was actually rather good at riding the thing. Perhaps by the time Jake had taught her how to climb the tree, she'd be good at that too. Either way, she was glad to be spending time with Jake like the old days.
Biting her lip, she looked back at Jake again. She couldn't even put into words how thankful she was that Jake was here with her. Turning away from the tree, she ran to him, hugging him close. "Thanks for this, Jake," she said into his chest, her face buried in his tshirt. It was so hard being here without Edward, and, although she hadn't mentioned anything, she was sure he knew what she was thinking. He'd been so lovely since she arrived here, and although she hated being dependant on him again, it was just so easy when he made her feel better about everything.
