"Hey, come on," he said softly when she started to cry. "It's okay." One hand went to the back of her head where it rested against his shoulder, the other staying on her back. He ran it up and down her back slowly as her hand gripped at his shirt.
"This doesn't have to change anything," he kept speaking in the same tone of voice. He rested his cheek against her hair as he kept holding her close. He wasn't going to say it, but he got the feeling he was getting as much from this as she was.
