He sighed at her answer, looking away for a minute before turning his attention to the lake, eyes on a spot out over the water.
"If you don't think you can. I understand." He did, for the most part. But he really hoped once this whole thing was over things could go back to the way they had been. It might have been selfish of him, but he didn't want to lose her as a friend. She had been extremely kind, even when he probably hadn't deserved it. He felt closer to her than anyone else he had met after arriving here.
"This isn't fair on you. None of it has been. If you want me to go, I will."
