Laurie was probably the most conflicted person in the world at the moment. She was trying to put the pieces together and somehow being fictional and taken away at possibly one of the most important moments of her life was rather inconvenient. Not to mention encountering her dead...Comedian.
Then again, Laurie could see the positive to this situation she found herself thrown into. She had a chance to get to know the father she never knew. Not that she was all too certain she was happy to find out her father was the Comedian. He did try to rape her mother...still he was her dad. For years she had wondered what she'd say to him, had she ever been given the chance to meet him. A couple of times, when she was little, she came up with full conversations with the imaginary father. Sometimes he'd be an average citizen, others the Hooded Justice. Suddenly she wasn't sure what to say to him.
Then there was the fact she had the lovely task of filling this man in on his death. Clearly this placed pulled people from everywhere, not caring what time or what they were doing. How was she to tell this man he was murderderd? Or better yet what should she tell him first? Should she go 'hey good news and bad news; good news: I know I'm your kid and I want to get to know you, bad news: You're dead!'? Something told her he especially wouldn't like that one.
Laurie, luckily had other clothes in her closet, giving her the option to not dress in her costume. She was never a fan of that thing, anyway. Laurie put on a comfortable shirt and pants. No need to dress up right? This was just a casual dinner/drink with her...dad. She had to get used to that word...or maybe not. What if he got angry? What if he wanted her to continue with the relationship they have? ...if you can call it a relationship that is. Laurie never felt herself particularly close to the Comedian.
It took her a moment but she found her way to the restaurant. When she arrived she found him sitting at a table already. Just one look at him made her turn around and go to the bartender for a drink. At that moment she didn't care what she'd get, she needed a drink for this. The bartender gave her a glass of wine and she took it to her seat across from him.
"Hey," she said as she sat done. "Sorry I kept you waiting."
Laurie took a sip of some of her wine, trying to get up the courage to say all that she needed to say. The rape, being her father, his death...where the hell to start?
"Thanks for meeting with me," she started, "I know we've never really...done this."
