Jo hugged him back. being in his arms made things a little more real for her. It also calmed her down considerably. Sam had always been the older brother she never had. Jo was suddenly grateful that if she had to be taken away at least she was taken somewhere where a friend was.
"Stop apologizing," she tried to say something lighthearted but immediately felt bad she said it.
She followed Sam inside and went to the bar. "I've been better." she admitted as she sat down and ordered a beer. "But it could be worse right?"
Jo thanked the bartender and took a swig of her beer. "Thanks Sam," she said in answer to his offer. "I do appreciate all of your honesty and help so far." she picked at the label on the bottle. "I'm sorry I snapped at you on the journals. It's not your fault, and I don't blame you it's just..." she succeded in tearing off a corner of the label. Jo wasn't completely sure as to how to put her emotions into words. She shook her head and drank more beer.
