Merlin just had a soft spot for kids. He had always enjoyed teaching them, and he had always believed that of all the humans who needed protecting, children came first. And not just human children. He had fostered and protected children of the Fae, and of the ancient Dragons, and others, even stranger. So children were something he cared about a great deal.
The simple appeal on the network had made him nod, and he had left his rooms immediately. Between the hospital and his rooms, he went nowhere else, these days, especially with wild animals running loose, and pregnant women all around. But this, this needed doing.
Choosing a spot, he reached within himself, concentrating, and touched the three poles of power that guided his magic. The Deific, the power of Jehovah, flooded through him, golden and shimmering, and he was surrounded by it's light. That power pooled the ground, and Life Eternal touched the area, the circle he wanted and marked, naming it sanctified, and sacred. The Humanic awoke, filling him with the taste of humanity, it's ability to grow and to shrug aside that which opposed it. The flame of humanity licked across the circle, and out of that flame came structures, playground things rising made of metal that would not rust. Only then did the Demonic flare up, meeting the Deific through the Humanic, curling around him with the taste of torment and darkness and eternal justice repaid. The power of it solidified the circle and made it secure against all hostility and all animals.
And he added his own flare with these magics, making the playground safe and strong unto itself, neither godly, nor ungodly, but simply there, and a sign of hope. With a Word, he made it so, and the light and the power faded, leaving him standing in the midst of the playground, smiling once more. It was done.
