Charm was something that came easily to Fredrick. It honestly came from his lips and body manner without his knowledge. There were times that it came forth when he simply didn't want it to, but that was a part of who he was. It wasn't about hiding something persay. Doing so was the complete opposite. It wasn't a viel of what was hidden beneath the outer most layer of his skin. It was true that he had something locked away within him. A few thoughts here and there. A good handful of things that ought not be brought forth. However, if he someone important asked such questions, it was likely that he wouldn't be able to falter from the truth, possibly being angry at question spouted before him. Yet, he believed that he wouldn't be able to stray from the truth any longer.
It was obvious by his daily behavior that relished in the fact that he was a war hero. The title alone was great power that he held under his belt. He wanted to grasp ahold of the fame that came with the title given to him and ride it as far as he could. However, he didn't want to talk about what he had accomplished to obtain it. When he was young, he had wanted flocks of fans to admire him for what he had done in the name of his country. Little did he know it was because he had killed innocent people. Many innocent lives were lost by the explosion that shot out of his gun. It did kill him each day when he thought about those lives. Was he going to hell for what he had done? Most likely, despite the fact that he didn't want to commit such a terrible act. Oh, what he would do to redo that part of his life over again. Maybe Shosanna would see him in a differnt light. A game of playing hard to get would be the furthest from his mind.
Aside from that, others would call him crazy for still being in love with a girl that had shot him directly in his back. Of course, Fredrick had thought that she would easily give him a little pleasure within the projection room. He was only human. Those thoughts would have entered anyone's mind. However, if it was far from that lustful act, he wouldn't have pressured Shosanna to do anything. Truth was, if she accepted him for exactly who he was, the male would treat her like a queen. She wouldn't be some trophy that held his arm in public ceremonies or within a crowded restaurant. No. He knew what he was feeling was real and he wished that the game was occurring between them.
Everyone deserved a second chance, right? He thought that everyone lived by that unwritten code. No matter how many Jews thought that he was a bad man for sniping their people, Fredrick wasn't a bad man. It was just difficult to stand up to any higher authority for the shear fact that he would be gunned down. Life ended in a matter of moments without any regrets from anyone higher in the German army. That's why he did exactly what he had been told to do.
