Emmanuelle had to admit being around Sam was easier than being around most people. He didn't try so hard to impress her and his charm wasn't laid out so thick. Everything was almost perfect, he wasn't like the men back home. He seemed genuine. From what she could tell there were no false pretenses, there was just him... It was a nice change. His shyness implied humility, something men from 1944 Nazi occupied France lacked. All the men there, whether fighting for the Nazi's or against lacked the trait that allowed them to admit weakness - a trait that Emmanuelle admired most in a person. Sam seemed capable to push his ego aside. At least, that's what Emmanuelle saw.
Emmanuelle watched in awe as the player slid open and he placed the DVD in. It was fascinating to her, the technology was far more advanced. The way the machine moved lacked any of the robotic movements that were depicted on the silver screen in her time. The movement was fluid and so... different.
As Sam took a seat beside her, she took the remote in both hands and ran her fingers over the buttons lightly. She watched his directions carefully, blue eyes following his fingers as he pointed to each button and explained their features. It wasn't until he was that she became acutely aware of just how close he was to her. The feeling prickled down the back of her neck as her gaze slowly lifted to look up at him. Swallowing slightly, she watched him moving away from her. As if by instinct her hand darted out to catch his wrist, "Non..." she began in French before pausing, "I mean... You don't have to move away. I... I don't mind if you sit next to me. We are both adults, besides, what happens if I press the wrong button? What good will you do all the way on the other side of the sofa, oui?" A tiny smile illuminated her features, as her fingers lingered on his wrist a few extra beats before pulling back.
