"I think it was Matilda who used to say it was the wind." He was fairly sure that was the first place he'd heard it, anyway. She had always been a tease.
"He was very proud of his efforts," he said instead of responding to that. He hated that she'd somehow got this idea that he didn't want to hear her talking about these things. But she had, and there was nothing to be done about it.
"I know that too." He shook his head with a laugh. "As much informed him, it was rose petals, not lavender." Thoughts of Roy brought with it a certain level of melancholy. But also guilt, because he should have been able to save him. "I'm not over thinking. There isn't anything to overthink, with lavender and...whatever that other one is."
