Anna was both surprised and relieved when Jo didn't push it. She expected everyone to want to make her talk. So far Gabriel was the only one who'd pushed her. And the only one who had said "I told you so", although not in those words. And of course he'd deny he'd ever said it, but he had, in his own pompous way. She loved her brother, but he was a dick. And she was grateful that Jo was at least being kind to her.
Especially because Anna knew she didn't deserve it.
Anna wasn't sure how long it had been since she'd brushed her hair. She could feel the knots as Jo worked through them, gently enough to never pull too hard. And the longer they sat there in silence, the more Anna's shoulders slunk. Her muscles went slack. And after a few minutes of silence, quiet tears started trailing down her cheeks. She didn't say anything, didn't move, but she couldn't stop the tears either.
