Anna watched Castiel without much response. She didn't fight him when he pulled Aiden into his arms. She didn't have the energy. At the moment Anna was essentially dead inside. If Cas could give Aiden something that she didn't have right now, the warmth that had slipped from her more and more in the past few weeks, she was okay with that. Sure, she could get up and go out and smile and pretend to be okay, but she wasn't. Dean saw through her, Robin saw through her, Gabriel probably knew but was too busy with his own family, and Anna knew better than to try and lie to Cas because that never worked. If it were anyone else, she would have put on a show and pretended to be okay, but she just couldn't bother with Cas. It would be pointless.
Of course she probably should have. Maybe he wouldn't have made the stupidest suggestion in existence if she had pretended to be okay.
Actually, it wasn't even a suggestion. It was practically an order.
"You don't really want that. Tell me what you came here to tell me, Cas. I'll get up and do stuff if that's what you want. You don't have to jump to ridiculously bad ideas." Anna lifted her eyes toward him, not quite able to catch his gaze from the pillow.
