Brooke had thoroughly enjoyed the wedding. She was so happy Elena had asked her to be part of it, and she'd heard loads of people saying the reception dress was gorgeous, even if they didn't know who had made it. It gave her a warm, happy feeling to know she'd been able to contribute to her new friend's big day in such a way. Since coming here, she'd made so many great friends and, although she missed home, she felt like she really belonged here. All in all, Brooke'd had a pretty wonderful day.
And then there was the gorgeous best man she'd spent most of the day perving over. Dom might have been the one walking next to him down the isle, but Brooke couldn't help but grin to herself whenever she remembered that he was all hers, and she was the only bridesmaid that got to go home with him after the reception.
Brooke walked away from the dancefloor where she'd be dancing with the girls to some old-school cheesy pop. Her cheeks were glowing pink and she was slightly out of breath but she felt great. Slipping into one of the chairs at the top table, Brooke looked around for Damon. Stefan and Elena were in their seats, talking and laughing. Brooke grinned. They looked so happy. Still, she couldn't see her boyfriend anywhere. Pushing herself up again, she walked across to the make-shift bar which was being manned by an oompa-loompa. She waited for him to pour her a glass of bourbon and a white wine before she carried the drinks out from under the gazebo, heading down towards the lake, looking out for Damon.
She spotted him a little way away, silhouetted in the light of the sun which was setting over the lake. Walking carefully in her aqua heels so as not to spill the drinks, her dress rippling in the cool breeze, she walked over to him, a happy smile playing across her lips. "Hey baby," she said softly, stopping beside him and holding out the glass of bourbon to him. "I thought I'd find you out here."
