He offered Heather a hint of a smile when she said the pancakes would be nice. It was probably the most hesitant expression she would see from him. He wasn't used to being unsure of how to go about things. But then he'd never felt for anyone before what he felt for her.
He was extremely grateful for that silent show of support from X, even if he knew the reason behind it. It wasn't until she had left the room that he offered Heather another, somewhat amused smile. "She hasn't quite mastered the fine art of subtlety yet." Using his foot, he pushed out the stool beside him for her to sit. Truthfully, he'd rather just hold her, but he wasn't sure how to go about wording it.
