She was off, and she hated that. She didn't hear the footsteps approaching, and jumped a little when the voice cut through her thoughts. Chocolate eyes shifted and studied the hand, then traveled up the arm slowly until they reached her face. They narrowed a little, then smoothed out slightly as she recognized her from the forums. Giving a shrug, she stepped back from the tree, dropping her hand and letting it swing against her side.
"Not r-" That damn truth stuff kicked in again and she grimaced, jaw and fists clenching. "I'll be fine." That, at least, was true. She'd be just fine some day. She wouldn't let this keep her down for long. Besides, what did it matter that he had lied to her? He didn't mean shit to her, not really. Except she couldn't even lie to herself, and knew that wasn't true.
