"There's plenty of food to spare around here, Fergus. No one's going to beat anyone, especially not children." Anna was surprisingly good at saying what she thought Fergus needed to hear and what she thought Crowley needed to hear all at the same time. Maybe some of it would stick subconsciously. Not that she thought Crowley would ever be stupid enough to hit Aiden, but the point remained.
Sweeping Fergus up into her arms, Anna had to do a bit of maneuvering around her bump, but she managed. "I think it's time for a bath and then bedtime." Anna waved her free hand at Johan to rush him up the stairs first. The last thing she needed was to fall because he got impatient. But he understood her every word and was already on his way to the bathroom to wait for them.
"You want to know a secret?" Anna paused for dramatic effect. "I'm an angel. And I love you. Very much." And maybe she should have kept her mouth shut on that last part, just in case Crowley remembered all this when he grew up again, but she couldn't help it. She couldn't lie to him like this.
