Arthur's eyebrow inched up. "What sort of role does he play in the stories, then?" If the tales could not even get that much right, he did not hold a lot of hope for the rest of their veracity.
Considering Robin's advice, he remarked, "That sounds very well and good, but perhaps a bit too simplistic. Some of us have roles we must play out, regardless of whether or not we want to." While usually, he was fine with following his path and enjoyed much of what it entailed, there were times when it was tempting to simply disappear and leave it all behind. Technically, the choice was there. He could make that happen, or he could ignore his responsibilities and live a debauched life, as some rulers did. But, those were not truly choices; to turn his back on his position would be to abandon the people of Camelot, who depended upon him.
Smiling back at Robin, Arthur nodded and gave his sword a swing around. "Not so bad, yourself." Rolling his shoulders to loosen up, he asked, "Where did you learn to fight? I have never encountered some of your techniques." Which, he realized, could be a result of the time gap... he would never get used to that.
