Jess cocked her head to the side a little as Adam rambled. He had apparently been through something that sucked as bad as her life sucked. Well, not literally. Or maybe literally, she wasn't sure. But she didn't get the vampire or vampire toy vibe off him. Didn't think that was the problem. She knew better than to ask what, though. He didn't look like he was in the mood to share with strangers.
"I don't think it works like that here." Jessica paused and shook her head, trying to keep from crying again. "Or anywhere. Vampires don't have rights. Even if there was somewhere I could report him here - and I don't think there is - no one listens to vampires. It'll be my fault no matter what. And he's a guest at the resort, so I don't think it makes a difference whether it was his fault or not. People don't like vampires."
