Robin was just heading downstairs when he heard a key turning in the lock. Sundays meant the guests probably wouldn't want any lessons, and he was happy enough with that arrangement. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy teaching them, out of the many things he could be stuck doing here, and compared to the alternative when he'd been home, it was far preferable. But the guests really could be exhausting with their endless questions. And he'd never been good with the sort they threw at him. He had his bow in his hand, sword and dagger in their scabbards at his waist. He might not find anyone else at the range, but he didn't need company to cure his boredom.
He expected to see Gibbs walk through the door. Marian was upstairs, and their previous cabin mate had recently left Ridgeway, as quickly as she'd arrived. Robin had only caught the briefest glimpse of her. He hadn't even known her name.
The man, boy? who walked through the door looked younger than Robin himself. Gibbs would love this, he got a big enough kick out of how young he considered Robin to be. Whoever he was, he looked confused enough that it was clear he was new to the place. "Hello," Robin greeted simply. What else could you say? It was never easy for anyone who first got here.
