The reason Lily wanted Scorpius gone was complicated. A part of her actually liked sharing a cabin with him and a part of her hated it. This way, she could catch glimpses of him without anyone really noticing, and she could also monitor his activity bringing girls home. The latter, however, was also a negative side. She knew that every time he brought someone home, it would make her jealous, though Dominique had promised to use her pregnancy hormones as an excuse to go crazy on him for it. She would have never thought having one person know would work to her benefit. "Sorry to break it to you, I'm not hiding anything," she told him even though it was a lie. "Do you really think I could survive living with my family if I was?"
She wasn't sure how to take the rest of what he said, mainly the end and the way he looked at her when he said it. The look he gave her made her stomach flutter and she only knew it wasn't the alcohol because he'd had the same effect when he had hugged her while she was nearly sober. Scorpius had that effect on her often. She turned her head to look out the window. "It's not so bad," she told him, "getting to know your dad again. My dad was here twice and he was really accepting of everything I told him. Even though he was younger than me, he wanted to be there for me." There was a hint of sadness in her voice at those words. When her father was there, it was short-lived. She had wished that she could have had more time to spend with him.
Finally, she decided what to say to the rest. "You don't really know me, Scorpius. There are things about me that would shock you." She knew that was true. If he knew that she loved him, or that she had since she was nine years old, that would shock him. It would shock anyone. But it also meant that no one really knew her because Dominique was the only one who knew that little secret.
