Pike didn’t immediately flinch away from the touch. He just turned his head, staring down at her hand for a long moment. Then he just turned his body so that he was leaning against the door and slid down it into a seated position. He stared at the floor as he talked. He couldn’t grasp what it was he was supposed to do now? He was worn out. He was tired of being alone for now. Tired of fighting her. He couldn’t keep it up. Maybe tomorrow he could go back to normal, but right now everything in him was just so tired.
The problem is, he wasn’t really sure what to do now. He’d never planned for this to happen. Never planned for this to get out. He couldn’t even hope to figure out what he was supposed to do now. “Tell me what to do, Claire.” He continued staring at the floor as he talked, his voice hollow and dead. “Tell me what I’m supposed to do now.”
