She was saving his request till the end, as usual. It was what would take the most time to prepare for. She paused right in front of Tony, and was inspired. Raising the edge of her collar she made a request. "Hey little guy, plug in number 14!"
For the hell of it she bent over,(why not after the song she'd just sang?) and grabbed a hand held mic that was kept behind the bar for last call. Shutting off the little one she pulled it off and put it in a safe place. Turning around she pranced over to one of the uprights that were bored through the bar to hold up the roof.
The beginning beats of "But I do love you" by LeAnn Rimes began to strum over the clubs speakers. She didn't have to change for this set. It was a spur of the moment song. Nothing she practiced, just a song she loved.
"I don't like to be alone in the night And I don't like to hear I'm wrong when I'm right And I don't like to have the rain on my shoes." She leaned over holding on to the upright she placed her straw cowboy hat ontop of Tony's head. "But I do love you..." She caught his eyes. As if he were the only man in the whole joint. "But I do love you..." And it was quite obvious that he inspired the very song she sang.
Bouncing down to the middle of the bar and started singing the rest of the song.
"I don't like to see the sky painted grey And I don't like when, nothin's goin my way And I don't like to be the one with the blues But I do love you." She glanced back down toward him. "But I do love you."
She bounced toward him, sliding part of the way on the slick soles of her boots. Grabbing a hold of that pole again she leaned forward so she could sing directly to him.
"I love everything about the way your lovin me The way you lay your head upon my shoulder when you sleep And I love to kiss you in the rain... I love everything you do, oh I do-o~" She came pretty close to kissing him, a hairs breadth away and she pulled back to stand.
She sang the rest of the song right in front of him. "And I don't like to turn the radio on Just to find I missed my favorite song And I don't like to be the last with the news But I do love you But I do love you
I love everything about the way your lovin me The way you lay your head upon my shoulder when you sleep And I love to kiss you in the rain I love everything you do, oh I do
And I don't like to be alone in the night And I don't like to hear I'm wrong when I'm right And I don't like to have the rain on my shoes But I do love you But I do love you But I do love you But I do love you!"
She leaned forward till her lips actually did brush his, while holding onto the bar. Before she whispered for his ears only, away from the mic. "I love you, Tony."
