Claire had just finished flipping through the manual, taking note of all the names of the men and women who had 'created' her, when she heard the knock on the door. She set the manual down on the table and stood, crossing the room slowly and opening the door. She did her best to greet Pike with a smile, though with everything she was finding out, it was kind of strained. She looked up at him, nodding inside.
She had to admit, though she'd made no enemies in her time here - at least not as far as the staff was concerned, anyway - and a ton of acquaintances, Claire had made a friend as far as Pike went. She understood that he was well-guarded. And she didn't push him for answers, though sometimes she wanted to, because she wondered what went on in his mind. She figured, though, if he really didn't want anyone to know, that she wasn't any different. She wasn't, however, going to use that as a way to push him away. They got along well, and in a place like this it was something to grasp at, because there weren't many positives. With that thought, her smile became a little more genuine.
"Thanks again for doing this," she told him softly. "I know it's just sitting there and drinking while I do the 'game' part, but still...I honestly didn't expect that," she added with a smile as she stepped aside to let him in.
She figured that he was a lot sweeter than he was willing to let off. But she wouldn't call him on it. She knew that guys like him didn't like to be called on things. It lessened their 'don't need anyone' veneer. Her brother was like that, too, and she knew that it took a miracle, if not more, to get him to talk about anything, ever. But they were friends, like she'd said. So, she'd just take things as they were. If he ever felt comfortable opening up? Then she'd listen. But she wasn't going to push it.
