Who: Claire Redfield and Pike. When: Right after this. Where: Cabin 010. What: Interesting endeavors into gaming that Claire never thought she'd experience.
The guys on the case of the video games didn't even look like the Chris or Leon that she remembered. But, the company that had created them, and her, Capcom, she saw that the name was, were thoroughly convinced that was what they looked like, so she'd let them think that. If they didn't act like it, there was nothing that anyone would be able to do to convince her that it was, in fact, her brother or her best friend. But that was a whole different story entirely.
She'd seen the videos of someone controlling what she'd done, and been surprised when the 'you are dead' announcement popped up on the screen. She'd also been somewhat amused that in this world, things worked like that. It would have been nice if she'd been granted a second chance at life if one of those things had killed her. But in her world, if she died, she died. And she'd never died.
Which brought into her mind the fact that she needed to remind herself that this wasn't final. And if she'd accidentally killed Chris or Leon while she was controlling their movements here, it wasn't final. She hadn't actually killed them, and it would be okay. She repeated that in her head. It wasn't final and it wasn't actual death. It was just 'game over, continue at last check point.' Which was really, really strange in its own right.
"If life really had check points, man, things would be sort of awesome," she said to no one in particular, since her cabin-mate had been nowhere to be seen, and hadn't been seen in ages.
Surreal didn't even begin to cover it. She unwrapped the packaging and took out the manual, flipping through the pages and shaking her head. She definitely didn't plan to start this until Pike got there. But that didn't mean that her curiosity wasn't going to get the better of her in one way or another. These didn't look like the zombies she remembered. What had changed since she and Leon had split, she couldn't help but wonder. She'd find out, anyway. But not without a sufficient buzz.
She grabbed a glass and filled it with whiskey, drinking a decent amount down in one gulp.
