Shit... Shit! It figures there was no way to pull of a smooth move like that. No, no way. How could she lie to him? He had those piercing brown eyes that just screamed Tell the truth, I'll know either way. Or maybe it was the way she was raised. It made her a horrible liar. So she'd rather not even try. Her fingers chased through her hair yet again, though this time they remained around the crown, tightening and pulling the dark strands at her scalp. "I've tried, three nights in a row I've tried to sleep, honestly... I even tried an herbal drink from the Nectar, that's supposed to put you to sleep, I've tried warm milk... I even bought this soap that has lavender and some twilight flower that's supposed to induce relaxation and welcome sleep. I felt like a puddle afterward but..."She simply shook her head, her fingers gliding out of her hair. "I'm so past exhaustion that it feels like I'll never sleep again. But that said... I'll put one of your sayings to you, 'You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink.' So... I don't see what good locking me in will do."
She was trying to talk him out of doing something drastic, though part of her wouldn't mind being thrown over his shoulder. This was the less sensible side, the side that she'd never want him to see, the side that almost came out over the network. The sadistic part that knew, but didn't care, that she'd be hurt in the process.
Still she saw the resolution settle over him, there would be no way she'd talk him into just dropping it. She glanced down at her getup... then it hit her. "I was going to see Sam, after I got through here. To check on him and see how he's doing." There so that base was covered, at least he wouldn't think she got dolled up just for him. Or so she hoped.
