Now the eyebrow went from questioning to sarcastic. Did she seriously think she could get one over on him like that? It was clear from the non-answer, and the way she reacted just before it, that she hadn't actually slept. Pike was an observant guy. He had to be, as a freelance hunter without access to the huge occult libraries that Watchers had. So her reaction didn't slip past him. "Heather." He stepped out onto the porch, pulling the door to the cabin closed behind him. "You're exhausted. You need sleep. You can either go get some, now, or I can drag you back to your cabin kicking and screaming and lock you in your room until you fall asleep." There was a note of finality to his voice, and it had a sharp edge to it. One way or the other, she was getting sleep. The only choice was whether she got to walk back of her own volition.
He could always point out that all it would take would be one second of dozing behind the wheel of one of the carts to plow into a kid. Or that the lack of sleep could affect her work, and if she was fixing an elevator or other necessary system, it could cost lives. But he wasn't going to do that yet. It was a little ruthless and he knew it, but he wasn't afraid to go there if he had to.
