She hadn't been trying to do anything more than hide what wasn't there. She wasn't trying to peak interests that were so obviously not there. She wasn't sure how astute he was, or how much he paid attention to... Well anything. She only knew what she saw in the mirror, what sleep deprivation and the lack of a good solid meal had done to her. One had been easy enough to absolve. At the very least she hadn't lost her appetite now that she actually had time to eat. It would simply take time to reach what she'd been before the zombie invasion.
So she painted and hid with a little more glitz than usual. She didn't want to piss him off anymore than she had already, by being visually obvious that she hadn't done what she promised. Even if it wasn't for a lack of trying. The urge to run her fingers through her hair, as he opened the door forced her to shove her hands into her back pockets, fighting it as best she could.
She noticed that he didn't bother looking in her in the eye when he greeted her. She couldn't help but suck her teeth at the reaction. "I just came by to say I'm sorry for being a jerk. I shouldn't have pushed, I should have dropped it..." She had to close her eyes and bite her lip for a moment to keep from saying everything that was on her mind. "But yeah... I figured I'd apologize in person instead over the message board."
She opened her eyes to see if he had any reaction to what she blurted out. Her dark brows arched only slightly, her fingers curled in her pockets. She hated holding back, when all her instincts told her not too. Life was short, and most often it was cut off even before it could be considered short. And as much as it hurt, maybe it was best to just cut and run. Rather than end things badly, as there was little doubt she would in this one case, she kept her mouth shut.
