Katherine didn't want to look at his face, because she didn't want him to see the hurt in her eyes. She still didn't even know entirely what was going on, but whatever it was, she wanted more than anything for it to be real. If he was suspecting something... didn't that mean it wasn't and he knew it wasn't? If that was the case, she was pretty sure by this point that he knew she wasn't behind it. Maybe he realized that she couldn't compel those feelings out of a human, let alone a vampire. And if that was true, then that did make her feel a little better. Because then he'd realize she had never compelled the feelings in the first place.
Looking into his eyes, it was really hard to stay upset. The determination and excitement in his eyes made her want to feel that way too. She gave him a soft smile, wanting more than anything to be as excited as he was. "I always did like doing crazy things," she admitted.
