He should have been angry, he supposed. He should have smacked Robin from the room, missing the doorway, but his talk with Heather had had an unexpected effect. Instead of threatening Robin, or just lumping his presence, he smiled. A real smile.
"There's plenty of room," he said calmly. He reached out his hand to Laura like a prince welcoming his princess to the ball. "You should be here, Robin. I think Ral expects to see you first and I'm not going to disappoint the lad." His manner was breezy, cheerful. His warm eyes turned to Tony. "And Laura is right, you can rest with Heather or hang about here. Just... don't let her get too distracted," It was clear where Gabriel's mind was going. "I don't know when we'll need her services."
He looked back to Laura. "How do you feel, my dove," he said, his eyes full of love, now. The look he kept just for her.
