"Reporters drive you crazy too, hmm?" Damien said with a knowing nod. "I didn't care for them either. Especially the ones who get into your personal business. Or worse, make up things about you when there is no evidence to support their claims, only hearsay." He shrugged. "Although there's others who do that too, not just reporters. Probably not their fault, though. People are sometimes misinformed, have flawed or faulty perceptions, and often act without logic." A few of them lived here, but he didn't voice that thought about it. But if any of them spoke to Harry later about him, to warn him or about how 'evil' he supposedly was (and of course he truly was dark, he just didn't show it outwardly) or to stay away from him.. well, Harry would probably remember this conversation, that exact statement about people have misperceptions without proof. And Damien was playing the part of a kind benefactor and gentleman all around, so in this way hopefully there would be doubt if Harry was talked to about Damien himself.
He was wondering about how to tell his story about the parental situation, the tragedies. Maybe.. not the whole story, he can leave out a few details. "I guess.. where I'm from, being special, having abilities.. they automatically think that 'different' means 'bad'. It's prejudice. I've had lots of roommates. But people leave here sometimes, and a few of them had lived with me before. I have two for now, one I think is from your world. She seems like a nice person, plus has a good family and boyfriend that cares for her. I think her name is... Violet? Virgina? Victoire? Yes, I think that was it." Of course he knew full well the name, having met her before though she had no memory of that. But this way, he could play the innocent part, and he played his parts usually very well, this time being one of them.
Damien laughed along with him then. He could sort of identify with harry. Not just for the orphan side, but in things they believed, especially about books, unwanted attacks, and annoying people. "I get that, I hate it when people think they know you too. And being watched? That's no fun either. But maybe the best thing to do is be yourself, stick with what you know.. and maybe ignore some of them? Your family can probably help with that. I imagine they get that too, about guests pestering a bit much. But on the bright side, at least your enemy isn't here. Plus you can also make money and live without worrying about bad things going on. This place can be like a vacation to us as much as the guests."
