Jacob waited for her to launch into all the reasons why what she did was a mistake. How it was wrong and how he was just her friend and that's all he'd ever be. He'd heard the speech so many times he could probably recite it by now. Granted, a lot of the times were him playing it over and over in his mind, but still, he'd heard it. That was the point.
But instead, she didn't say that. His brow wrinkled in confusion as he watched her try to explain why she'd been avoiding him. Jacob had to admit it wasn't what he'd expected to hear. But it was everything he wanted to hear. Well, mostly. His heart was swelling and finally his lips twitched into a lopsided grin.
"Bells..." He started, growing serious as he reached out to tip her chin up, forcing her to look at him. "Don't you know by now, it's too late for any of that? I'm a big boy, Bella. I'm pretty sure I can handle it." He grinned a little. "It felt right, huh?" Now his smirk grew cocky. What? He couldn't help it! He'd been waiting so long to hear that! "So, why don't we just focus on that instead of all the other crap that you always let get in the way?"
