Sirius had expected a lot but not being screamed at this bloody early in the morning. He sighed. “I’m not joking, Dom. I just… it was a lousy idea. We don’t even like this place; we can’t expect a child to like it. Would you really want that?” He knew that Dom had stopped using the charm but it took people longer than a month to get pregnant, right? His parents had been rather old when he was born and he doubted they had used any contraception.
The next question threw Sirius off-guard. What had moving in to do with this? “Huh? Do you think I moved in with you because of this child-thing? That’s not true. I did it because I wanted to.” That was the sensible equivalent of ‘I wanted to move out and it was convenient’. And yes, he also wanted to protect her. To keep her safe from everything outside.
