Victoire had forgotten how it felt to be in his arms. She'd made herself forget because while she was in Egypt, she found that she could be far too easily distracted from her work just by thinking about Teddy. How he felt, his smell, everything about him. It was just easier for her to cope with if she let herself forget. Though even then, the ghost of the memory had lingered. Now, with his arms around her and his face in her hair, everything came rushing back. It felt incredible, yet scary all at the same time.
Teddy had been nothing but sweet since her arrival. Even her responses telling him that they could never be together didn't deter him. He just continued pointing out how they worked better together. She wasn't entirely sure about that. Even now. But with him holding onto her like that, it was too hard to think rationally.
"I missed you too," she whispered. It was hard to say. Not because it wasn't true. It was more true than she'd ever ever be able to admit. By giving in to Teddy and her feelings, she had admitted weakness and wounded her pride. It was a silly thing to worry about when reuniting with the one person who had ever really understood her, but she couldn't help it.
She backed away from the door, bringing Teddy in with her and closed the door. They didn't need to stand in the doorway. Especially where family could see.
